The scoring will be calculated as (No of votes x Rating ^2) so rating is given a higher weighting than number of (potentially low) votes. I am anticipating that winning photos will have dozens of votes - each individual only has one vote so giving a photo a low score has a low effect.
Imagine a photo has 20 votes each with a score of 10,
potentially a winning photo (overall score 2000)
one person gives it a score of 1, which will be
21 votes with a rating of 9.95 (overall score 2079)
another person comes along and scores it a 1, you get
22 votes and a rating of 9.90 (overall score 2156)
Trust me we do think about these things and you would not be disadvantaged.
