There seem to be very few enhanced images on here. I have seen some where an unoverexposed moon was nicely added into a longtime exposure night shot and similar, but the regular images do not appear to be very photoshopped.
Personally I do not like obviously photoshopped images in most cases.
I only use the free picture viewer „xnview“ for cutting the pictures and occasional adjustment of contrast and white balance. It even is sufficient to manually clean scans of older photos.
As a regular contributor to the database I am not very interested in participating in the current competiton, but I agree it probably would be better to modify some rules to make it more objective as has been pointed out by PhilipT. I would also prefer a marker for the competition-photos as proposed. Currently it is a bit annoying to contribute to the database as one is automatically forced to take part in a competition.
