If you are planning to go to Stonehenge for the solstice then please please please don't climb on the stones - it kills the lichen (that have protected the stones from frost damage for 3500 years), erodes the stones and shows a deep disrespect for the stones themselves and the rightful worshippers. Some of the attendees will find it genuinely distressing to see people clambering on top of the megaliths. Some of us feel the pain. I would like to think that all people on this site would understand this but it is worth asking . . .
If anyone from English Heritage reads this then please stop people damaging this magnificent Ur temple - we pay you a fortune to protect the site and it doesn't feel like you are doing it very well at the moment . . .
Thanks and a happy solstice
