Re:The experience of Soltice;what may it hold 4 U by Anonymous on Thursday, 22 June 2006

We move in whatever is forward from all directions coming together this night to await the birth of the light, to the heartbeat and chant of the mother and her children. I know I have been called to cross this nobby grass terrain of Salisbury Plain and I am happy to answer. I suppose that I have been traveling toward here for some time. I step and step and step still farther seeing the circle in the far far distance, at first trying to reach her and after a long while walking with her. The pain and aching in my feet sets a loud internal tone and raises the question of my endurance. My day in London and the heels of these new boots so incompatible with the uneven texture of the land bring together an elemental journey my feet will remember on a cellular level each and every step as highlighted among the others I take. I keep moving picking my steps with care one after the other.
In direct contrast of my usual desert perception of "summer," this nights' extreme elements powerful whipping, whistling, wind and fat, icey rain continuously accost my plastic bag poncho and annoint my skin creating a certain unexpected ambiance of clarity and raise my level of awareness; my ability to feel is hightened and almost vibratory attuned by wavelength of pain. Time passes as I am huddled and hunched down now under an umbrella pulled close to the side of a great tall stone, which although comforting as a fathers presence shelters me from the weather only slightly. I wait through the night one among many who have also heard an inner call and followed their feet. Morning sunrise nears. I have pushed myself past pain, extreme weather and exhaustion, past my normal limits with intention to openly participate in connection with the earth and the star and the humanity.Centered, I stand now with my people of this earth as people in common awaiting the arrival of this great sun whose warmth and light make all life here possible, just as it has always been. This idea of constance, that THIS sun has lit the sky of all who came before and all who will come. It is witness to all that will pass and all that has occured under it's glowing fire somehow seems a more manageable idea now in this gigantic stone mystery circle placed here 5,000 years before by OUR relations. The minutes pass and in amazement I ponder that I am actually BEING here experiencing a true physical perspective and not just picturing all this in my mind. The drums and chanting build and build and then break into cheers, laughter and joyous outcry as the light of the Sun too breaks through the night. This indescribably affecting and sacred place of our ancestors, STONEHENGE brings me a quickening, connecting in one illuminated continuous moment of travel to the source (within and without), marking connection and then bathing us all in the light that comes! Soltsice is at hand...Life is an experiencial initiation and this moment is it's metaphore. My heart is open with gratitude then and now as I remember the Summer Solstice of 2000. I applaud you who stand there now in 2006 as I applaud our Sun on it's faithful rise this longest day of the year. Amy [email protected]
