Re: life-histories of megaliths by Magalhaes on Wednesday, 12 April 2006

An example of the "recycling" of dolmens is the S. Brissos dolmen-chapel (I just uploaded a photo), and the dolmen at S. Geraldo, which was integrated into a house wall a long time ago (more than a century).

I also would like to point out the concentration of megaliths occurring in this area. Catarina Oliveira (in "Lugar e Memória", Ed. Colibri, Univ. of Lisbon, 2001) lists 104 of them, with coordinates and brief description, for the areas of the Évora and Montemor-o-Novo towns alone. The Tourism Office publications on these presents several, very interesting, some in very good condition.
