Gorsey Bigbury Henge
Gorsey Bigbury Henge submitted by abuchan43 : The henge would be difficult to spot on the ground if it were not for the trees growing out of it. A view from the NW. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Listed on the O S map, sheet 141 as a Henge, this henge is approx 40 meters in diameter and looks very similar in construction to the henge at ST558497. (Drove Cottage Henge)

It is situated on the NE side of a hill and like the Drove Cottage Henge the entrance is in the north side. The inside of the henge is level and has a mound similar to the henge at Drove Cottage. This makes the internal ditch deeper on the SW side, 1.5 meters compared to 0.5 meters on the NE side. It has three blackthorn trees growing inside of it.

Access to the henge is difficult as the public footpath from the road leading to Lower Farm is now overgrown and impassible, access might be possible by asking permission at Charterhouse Farm.
