Burial Chamber (Dolmen) in Kyūshū

In the heart of the northern part of Yoshinogari site, a small shrine hides in a grove. In its precinct, there are 3 round stones which are supposed to be the capstones of dolmens, 2 lie both side of the approach path behind the shrine gate, and 1 lies on the right side of the shrine building.

Yoshinogari historical park requires an admission fee and is surrounded by fence. However the path to the shrine penetrates to the centre of Yoshinogari park like a narrow alley in a labyrinth, in order for the locals to visit the shrine freely. The path begins at the point of 33.32980N,130.38805E.

Additional Information 2023 : The precinct of this shrine, surrounded by Yoshinogari Historical Park, had been a sanctuary for local people but the shrine had been relocated eastward in 2023 and the sanctuary area was also excavated in 2024. Whereabout of the dolmen-capstones in the precinct is unclear.
