Shadyback Tor settlement
Shadyback Tor settlement submitted by TheCaptain : Some of the enclosures and hut circles of Shadyback Tor settlement can be seen here to the right of the picture in the middle distance, beyond Brisworthy Stone Cirrcle. (Vote or comment on this photo)
To the west of Trowlesworthy Warren farmhouse, on a high spur of land jutting into the river Plym, are the remains of a fairly large settlement, consisting of several enclosed pounds with their hut circles.

Much of the remains have been destroyed in more recent times, with the construction of several warren buries and vermin traps amongst the enclosures.

Update December 2019: This site is featured on the Prehistoric Dartmoor Walks (PDW) website - see their entry for the Shadyback Tor Settlement. The site is also recorded as Pastscape Monument No. 439169, as MDV56780 (Prehistoric Enclosure (B) to the south-west of Shadyback Tor, Shaugh Prior) on the Devon and Dartmoor HER, and scheduled as part of Historic England List Entry No. 1020323 (Prehistoric and historic archaeological landscape at Trowlesworthy Warren).
