SandyG visited on 16th Mar 2017 - their rating: Cond: 2 Amb: 4 Access: 4 Permission must be sought to visit this stone row. The stones now stand in the middle of the Macrihanish Dunes golf course and visitors should seek permission at the Club House Car at NR 65908 24231. When visited in 2017 permission was readily given with a smile. Head north from the club house following the main path for about 240m.

The alignment is also recorded on the West of Scotland Archaeological Service (WoSAS) as WoSAS Pin 2997 (Clockeil, Kintyre, Standing Stones).

The SRoGB asks visitors to note: "Permission must be sought to visit this stone row. The stones now stand in the middle of the Macrihanish Dunes golf course and visitors should seek permission at the Club House Car at NR 65908 24231".

Re: Clochkeil by Anonymous on Wednesday, 15 July 2009
Only two of the stones are now visible and as one is larger than the other they charmingly look like a fossilised husband and wife. They are set in a notable hollow and align at right angles to Machrihanish bay. They are sited on the new Machrihanish Dunes Golf Course and are readily visible on the pathway up to the first Tee. It is a beautiful setting and the stones are well worth a visit.
