The circle of stones consists of several erratic blocks that were found at different sites in the surrounding area. Most of them exhibit anthropogenic traces, because they contain deep man-made furrows, slacks or cup-marks.

During the reconstruction work of Bederkesa Castle, the collection of erratic blocks was arranged as a circle at the place of a former round bastion of the castle.

Bederkesa Castle itself contains an important museum about the pre- and early history of the region.
