The first cave paintings discovered in Romania. Nowadays the entrance of the cave collapsed and the access is blocked.
The cave contains the first cave paintings discovered in Romania. Among them the Cuciulat Horse (painted in red color) is the most famous one. They are the first occurrence of such paintings in the SE Europe and date back to the paleolithic age. According to archaeologists it represents the missing link between the paintings in France, Spain and Russia. In 2008 the entrance to the cave collapsed and it is no longer accessible to the public.
