Hirosaki-jō castle, well known for its fine cherry blossom trees, is only surviving medieval castle in Tōhoku region. In its San-no-Maru (=outer enclosure) area, now modified as Hirosaki Castle Botanical Garden, there are vast and tiny dry landscape gardens in Aomori's peculiar style "Ōishi Bugaku-ryū (大石武学流)"
