La Tène culture oppidum Hrazany was built in the 2nd century BC on the steep hills above the river Vltava (Moldau) and thanks to its splendid location, it must have been truly mighty fortress! Like several other hillforts in this region, the main purpose of the Hrazany oppidum was to protect river route connection with austrian Salzkammergut. Fortified area cover up to 39 ha and is divided into four parts with variety of structures including enclosed homesteads with residential and economic buildings. Buildings with stone foundations was discovered also. Oppidum was abandoned sometimes between 20-30 AD in cause of any non-violent reason.
