Artificial Mound in Licking County, Ohio.Much reduced by historic plowing, Infirmary Mound is practically unnoticeable. It is only a few feet higher than the surrounding, natural hilltop and approximately 70 feet in diameter. At the time that Licking County was being surveyed, the mound was much taller, more compact, and more obviously artificial.
The mound lies at the Infirmary Mound Park immediately south of a horse arena. You really have to know where it is in order to discern it, but it is most easy to see if you walk along the longest portion of the arena (the west side) and observe the mound from the west, immediately down hill from it. It is also fairly obvious in aerial views from Google Maps and Bing.
