Standing Stone in Midlothian
This stone is recorded as Canmore ID 49173, the original OS Name Book entry from 1855 reading: "This stone is said to be a place of meeting by the Barons and Knights for the purpose of tournaments or jousts, and therefore called 'Jousting Stone' (S B Hare). Disputes are said to have been settled by the Barons and Magistrates in early times at this stone (J Robertson and S Younger)."
