Carhenge, Nebraska
Carhenge, Nebraska submitted by Creative Commons : Carhenge is a replica of Stonehenge in terms of size and orientation, but the story of its origin is a bit different. As creator Jim Reinders explained, it was just "something to do at our family reunion." Reinders wasn't kidding: Carhenge was built during a reunion at the family farm in 1987. The United States are one of the most popular travel destination in the world. No wonder, as they offer a variety of breathtaking landscapes, pulsating cities and interesting hotspots. The USA consists of 50 states of course, all with their own unique character, stretching from Texas, California, Arizona and New Mexico in the South, right at the border with Mexico, up to New York in the North which is close to Canada.

If you're planning to travel to the beautiful United States and you are a citizen of one of the Visa Waiver Program countries you need to apply for an ESTA no later than 72 hours before departure. Here is a way to apply for the ESTA.

The biggest metropolises of the US are New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Philadelphia, Houston and Phoenix. Being surrounded by the Atlantic, the Pacific and the Gulf of Mexico, many cities in the US are blessed with beaches, harbours and piers. The climate in the South and in the West is mostly warm, even hot in the summer. The rough winters of the North and East are balanced through mild summers.

The United States offer something amazing and inspiring for every taste. The culture lover can visit museums, theatres and concerts. The sports lover can visit baseball, basketball, volleyball and even waterpolo games. The famous Superbowl of the National Football League (NFL) is treated like a holiday for most of the population. Nightlife lovers can visit Las Vegas, Chicago, New York or Philadelphia. To feel the spirit of the US even more, attending a 4th of July party, a Halloween party in early autumn, or Thanksgiving is a must.

The best way to discover the US is through a roadtrip. Driving through the breathtaking nature of the US is an unforgettable experience. Just make sure you have a lot of free time on your hands as you can be in for a long ride, but you can do as much or as little as you feel. The nature of the United States is as colourful as its cities. The diverse and spectacular wildlife habitats consist of rainforests, deserts, lakes, snowy mountains and valleys and there are many amazing National Parks to explore.

Make sure you get your ESTA on time. To get into the United States people from countries which are part of the Visa Waiver Program need a short time visa, called ESTA, which as we said has to be applied for at least 72 hours before departing for the United States. You can find some more interesting information about travelling to USA here.

I hope this will inspire you to take a trip to the USA, with many thanks to usaesta.co.uk, Ilona Gaynor, eforrest25 and Gigi_NYC for their kind support an assistance with this article, including lovely photos.
