From the outside, it can be difficult to understand how much players earn or what the cost of transfers is. Usually in the public field, salaries are exaggerated. It is generally accepted that in the top CS:GO teams, players receive from 10 thousand dollars a month, this amount can be higher for stars. Here you need to estimate the approximate scheme of salaries and expenses of clubs. This is clear from leaks, rumors, indirect signs and other indicators. Especially for you, we have collected the lion's share of sources in one place so that you can understand the big picture and draw your own conclusions.
How salary is formed in CS:GO
Salaries depend on many factors. The main thing is achievements, players receive money depending on winning tournaments and earning prize money. In most clubs, the contracts stipulate that the income of an esports player can increase or decrease depending on the results. For example, in the old roster of Gambit, the salary increased from $2,000 to $10,000 after reaching the top 5 in the HLTV rating. In Europe, as a rule, they talk about stable amounts. It is important to remember that this is not the only way to make money in CS:GO. For the stars of this discipline, various sponsorship payments can significantly exceed the official salary or income from prize money. A good boost would be reaching the Major — stickers can make up for any losses.
Streaming is key. Many well-known esportsman stream on the Twitch platform, where they gain their audience, due to which they consistently receive money from subscriptions, donations and advertising. For example, Ukrainian s1mple is not only the best CS:GO player, but also one of the most popular streamers. The player’s broadcasts are watched by 40 thousand viewers, and in March more than 60 thousand people watched him. In total, Kostylev earned $1.5 million during his career. It's just prize money. How much more he receives from other sources is hard to imagine. But the amounts must be huge.
Considering how CS:GO and the entire esports industry is growing, we should expect even more records in the transfer market in the future, as well as higher salaries. With such a pace, esportsman will soon be able to compete on equal terms with sports stars in terms of earnings.
