It is difficult not to notice now on Instagram or other social networks a huge number of accounts that promote not just a healthy lifestyle, but also sport as an integral part of it, speaking only about its positive aspects and calling it a cure for all diseases. However, is it really so? Well, let's figure it out.

What is “sport”?

It's pointless to discuss the pros and cons of doing sports without first giving a definition to this activity. So, what is sport in the generally understood sense?

Most often, when referring to the word "sport" people mean light physical activity like regular stretching or doing morning exercises. However, in practice, playing sports really indicates training with the maximum dedication and a huge strain on the body.

So when we are talking about exercise we do for example on regular bases at fitness centers with our friends or other local bbws, we are most likely considering not sports, but rather some sort of physical activity, since sport is quite a hard workout with a constant increase in physical activity. That’s why it is almost impossible to see any of the benefits or harms of sports after just a few training sessions.

Benefits

Good physical health

Sports require continuous hard work, which tones the body and muscles and allows people of all ages to maintain and improve heart health, lungs and blood vessels. Exercise and activity lower the risk associated with heart attacks and strokes.

The body weight is maintained in the norm

Sports training contributes to long-term reduction in your body weight and, with constant training, does not give you the opportunity to gain weight. Training in various outdoor sports always increases all metabolic processes.

Socialization and perspectives

While playing sports or taking part in competitions, you have many opportunities to meet new people and make interesting contacts, since sport is something that can unite people of any religions, interests and backgrounds. You can easily find like-minded people who play sports among lds singles, staunch agnostics, or free-spirited hippies.

Moreover, the most successful athletes receive high salaries, as well as sponsorship deductions and gifts from the organizers of the competition, government officials. Athletes are also often invited to talk shows, they star in films and advertisements, gaining popularity.

Pitfalls

Development imbalance

If you stick to monotonous training it will not only slow down your progress, but will also lead to an imbalance in the development of different body systems, which, in turn, leads to injuries. In addition, any workout is stressful, and intense exercise contributes to the accumulation of this stress, so the focus of training programs must be changed so that the load on one or another body system becomes more or less, which will allow it to recover. That is why absolutely any kind of sport involves physical training, which provides a variety of the training process.

Injury risk

This does not refer to accumulated injuries that occur gradually in the course of wear and tear on joints and muscles, but those injuries that happen suddenly. That’s why it is necessary to pay attention to the technique of performing certain exercises, since people who have recently started to play sports and have not turned to the services of a professional trainer may sometimes do it in completely wrong ways.

Discipline of excellence

There is certainly nothing wrong with good willpower and the fact that athletes set themselves ambitious goals that they strive to achieve. But, unfortunately, sometimes such pressure on a person can have a bad effect on his mood and even the nervous system, as well as on health if he exhausts himself with hunger strikes.
