What is archaeological excavation?
In architecture, excavation is the process of recovering material from beneath the ground. This can be skeletons, buildings, artefacts and just about anything else. The goal is to recover items that can expand our knowledge of the world before, allowing us to see how the human race has evolved over the years.During an excavation, you’ll be doing a few different tasks to uncover historical relics. This includes hand excavations where you’ll be digging through layers of soil and this is typically what people imagine this job looks like. However, you’ll also be trenching to help define target areas during a dig and stripping to remove the top layer of soil to start the excavation off.
