Raid the attic, turn out Granny's drawers, search the vaults - we want to see your oldest faded photos of your prehistoric past. Was Mum, Dad or Grandad a Megarak too ? Scan in any early photographs that you find - they can often show how sites have changed.


Stonehenge before the razor wire is of particular interest and elsewhere we can glimpse sites before they were tidied up and restored. If we get enough, we'll open a special Archive Gallery. Coverage is international and the time span can be from the dawn of photography to about the 1980's.

I stand corrected, I must have been thinking of maps, is 100 years right for these? I wasn't thinking of well known things, there could be interesting photos or diagrams to be found in obscure old books.

Templar is quite correct. A photograph taken in 1905 by a 20 year old who died aged 70 in 1955 would still be in copyright. Problem is in knowing who owns the copyright and when they died - morbid isn't it! In any case, my intention was to try to discover unknown photos rather than just copy published ones from old books and postcards.

I believe the rule for "out of copyright" is more like "70 years after the death of the copyright holder" in the UK.
