The first date is always an exciting and romantic experience. Oh, no, wait, that’s a lie.
Too many things can ruin your date and your partner’s impression about you – and your date becomes something awkward. You come home a couple of hours later and promise yourself to give up dates once and for all. Can relate? It is really vital here to know how to behave, what topics to avoid and what taboos to be aware of.

First impression is the last impression.
That’s why we prepared a couple of tips on Dating in Seattle for you. Make mental notes, friends, and your dates will never result in outright failure.

#1. Don’t brag

About your financial situation, wealth, social status, physical strength, intelligence, all your numerous achievements, etc.
Self-praise arises as a result of an excessive desire to prove yourself combined with narcissism. There is nothing wrong with telling stories about how you knocked out the bad guy at school, but it is important not to overdo it. It’s annoying and doesn’t leave any room for interest. It’s better for a person to learn how great you are gradually.

#2. Don’t go too far – limit physical contact

Touching, hugging, kissing are great, but if you crave a serious relationship, think of that from another perspective. Personal space is what modern people value very much. It talks about respect and good breeding.

Of course, people want to touch their object of sympathy to feel its reality or to demonstrate their interest in the person. But if you enter this personal area and the person rejects, they are either not ready for such close communication or don’t like you. And, on the contrary, if a person does not shy away, most likely your charm is striking.

#3. Don't try to be different from who you really are

Don’t say you love sport if the last time you did it was in school. Don’t say you love kids because it’s what “normal people should do”. Yes, sometimes Seattle women seeking men answer questions not in the way they really think, but in the way the situation requires of them. All because of a great desire to be liked. Don’t do that. Greatest relationships can’t be based on lies, even if it’s white.

Remember, you should think not about how to interest a person, focus on your own feelings – you are to decide whether you like your partner or not.

#4. Do not mention exes

Leave it to Taylor and Ariana. They do really well! Comparison and negative comments are unacceptable. Such behaviour may indicate that you have not let the previous relationship go. That means you are still vulnerable and that’s not attractive.

#5. Do not immediately talk about strong feelings and love at first sight

That’s a common mistake of many Seattle women seeking men and vice versa. This may indicate frivolity of intentions. Indeed, in such a short time, only mutual sympathy can arise. It will take longer for strong feelings to develop.

#6. Do not behave rudely

Inappropriate jokes, interrupting the interlocutor, aggression, obscene language, negative attitude towards the world – all that makes you a loser. No offense! Even the way you treat a waitress speaks volumes. So if you don't want to be turned out, behave.

#7. Do not be too constrained, silent, indecisive

Sometimes, excitement turns into the fear of doing something wrong. Therefore, it is better to think in advance about what topic to discuss and plan a date in a convenient and familiar place for both. This way, you will feel more confident and look more attractive.

#8. Do not talk exclusively about yourself

Otherwise, your partner will get the impression that you are narcissistic. At the same time, there is no need to turn a date into an interview bombarding a person with a lot of questions. It is better to alternate questions and answers, add neutral topics to the conversation, such as movies, music, weather, etc. Then, your dating in Seattle will always be successful.

#9. Do not openly look at other people or, god forbid, flirt with them

Of course, if you like a person, you probably don’t even notice others around you. But it’s understandable that when you aren’t in a relationship yet (it’s your first date, remember?), you notice other beautiful singles. But it is unpleasant when a person pays attention to someone else besides you on the first date, so it’s a matter of respect.

#10. Don't talk about purely masculine/femenine topics

Of course, you can discuss how cool Seattle Seahawks are. But don’t plunge into one-sided talks too much. Such conversation, or let us say, monologue, will bring no pleasure to your companion. Even if you are a pro in some sphere, don’t focus purely on it.
With these 10 points to remember, your first date won’t be the last.

With many thanks to Alex Hunger and SolarMegalith for their kind help and support of this article, including their lovely photos.
