While the Captain went on his much publicized Tour de France, Klingon and Alex Hunger completed mapping Belgium, Luxembourg, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Switzerland, Crete, Italy, Spain, Portugal and made attempts to position sites in the remainder of the Mediterranean basin, such as in Egypt, mainland Greece, Turkey, Tunisia and Syria although no actual mapping facility of all these regions exists at this time. All in all about 6,000 sites outside of the UK have been added, which is a pretty commendable achievement for such a short period of time. Effectively, compared to the UK centric days, we have quadrupled the area covered and easily doubled the number of sites on our database, which no other resource has available in hard copy or on the web.
While someone still has to go and photograph the vast majority of these continental European sites, the challenge will now be to extend our knowledge of sites in Central and Eastern Europe all the way to the Urals and perhaps beyond.
We are looking for enterprising young men and women, scholars of all ages, good linguists and adventurers of all kinds to send us good GPS positions and/or photos of megaliths all over central and eastern Europe to help us fill the remainder of the map with symbols of sites and our e-gallery with new pictures. Of course experts and amateurs alike with an interest in Western Europe are still very much welcome to submit photos, corrected GPS and improved descriptions of the western European sites currently in our database.
