Extra Info:
Following years of independent research, I propose that the carvings on the early Pictish Symbol Stones were for religious purposes, being made following the Roman withdrawal from Caledonia around 212 CE. They are deciphered in the context of a form of Roman Mithraism. For example the V-Rod and Crescent comprises descending and ascending arrows from/to the celestial sphere representing the travel of the soul at birth and on death. Please go to my website to see the majority of the Symbols deciphered. Book also available via Amazon "Pictish-Mithraism - The Religious Purpose of the Pictish Symbol Stones". At www.pictishsymbolstones.com I explore "shared space" for different beliefs
