All Countries: Spain: Canary Isles: Broch or Nuraghe
Iron Age stone structure, also known as a roundhouse. Sardinia has a very similar class of structure known as the Nuraghe. Brochs were built throughout Scotland, concentrated near the coasts, as a defence against raiding parties. The walls are double skinned, providing small rooms and storage areas between the inner and outer walls. Steps were also built in the gap between the walls.
