Legends abound, including that St Michael fought and beat the Devil here, and that signs of their battle have been left as curious marks which can be seen in certain rocks. This is where the devil was supposedly thrown over the edge of the mont, but clung on to this rock before slipping over the edge. The devils claw marks as he fell can be seen in this rock.
