Inchbrayock 1

This is a 'Class II Pictish Symbol Stone', located in Montrose Museum, Montrose, Angus. The stone was found in the burial-ground of St Braoch's Church, and is also knows as the Samson Stone. This is the "front" of the stone and contains a Celtic cross, with four panels - one in each corner. The two top panels contain inter-woven creatures, the bottom left contains a creature eating, and the bottom right corner contains a scene with Delilah cutting Samson's hair (this being a scene present in the Lindisfarne Gospels). The stone has been dated between 850-950AD.
