Description
The six northernmost circles at this site are arranged in a linear manner on a NW-SE axis. These are the circles at the rear of this photo. Within each circle the standing stones are of a similar height, and are made from laterite, a local sandstone that is soft to work when first dug out of the ground, but which hardens on exposure to air. The four nearer tall stones feature on roadside advertisements for a bank within the Gambia.
