This church is called the Catedrale Madrice. The mother church of Caltabellotta. It was built in the early 900s or before, partially destroyed by an earthquake and refurbished in the 1100s. It sits near the base of Monte Castello, which is the peak you see in most photos, where there is a ruin of a castle (which looks like this photos is taken from). To the right in this photo, the large red roofed building with several attached is San Agostino, which was also built in the early 800-1100s and due to the earthquake, was fortified in 1302, In the Madrice, there is a thick glass portion of the floor that looks into the tombs below the church. The altars were sacrificial altars before San Pellegrino slayed the dragon (serpent) and freed the people of the necessities of sacrifice.
