Description
The Kiftsgate Stone was well hidden amongst undergrowth, despite being just to the side of the road and Cotswold Way. Looked to me like it might possibly have once been part of a longbarrow chamber.

It is difficult to get an overview of the free view of the surroundings, but this hollowed stone much likely is used to observe a celestial event of either the Sun, the Moon or a specific star when occurring at a specific seasonal period.

The holes in the Danish rune stone are not at all prehistoric. They are even post-viking age according to your link.
The Kifsgate stone is not dated as it seems. Hence there is no way to tell whether the hole is prehistoric and served any observation purpose. So your interpretation is a mere speculation.
