Description
Sanilac Petroglyphs
Indian carvings on the face of a soft stone rock, thought to be between 300 and 1000 years old. This area is home to the current-day Saginaw Chippewa, who claim it. There is also, sadly, a great deal of graffiti present, which was carved by idiots wishing to add their commentary. For that reason, the site is now covered and fenced, and it is only open when the guards are present (college interns).

These are thought to be Michigan's only petroglyphs.

Directions: Near Bad Axe, MI. Take M-53 to Bay City-Forestville Road and proceed east to Germania Road. Head south one-half mile on Germania; the site is on the west side of the road.
