Description
This impressive Broch is near Carloway in the west of the Island of Lewis. Sadly time did not permit detailed exploration but that's something to look forward to at a later date. There is enough of this tower standing to indicate the method and the superb workmanship involved in it's construction.

Evelyn, a broch is an iron age fortified dwelling. Complete, it would look something like a modern cooling tower. The best preserved broch is on Mousa in the Shetland Isles. They are of historic significance and are usually protected as this one is.
