Description
View from The Blowing Rock - where, the legend says, a Cherokee 'brave' attempted to commit suicide, torn between duty to return to his tribe and love for a Chickasaw Chieftain's daughter. A gust of wind blew him back into the arms of his distraught love once he had thrown himself over the edge. Smaller objects are said to be returned to people by the updraft here. The day I visited was a sweltering still day, so not much chance of that on this occassion. Nevertheless it is a staggeringly beautiful spot, and very much worth a visit.
