Description
At the beginning, this dolmen was at a crossroad between the two roads D939 and D111.

Then it was moved to the Jardin des Plantes, museum of La Rochelle, in August 1886.

In 2001, it came back in La Jarne, but not on its first place, but in the center of the village.

Legend says that the French Fairy Mélusine was angry against the Lord of Châtelaillon because he refused to offer her hospitality. Then she ordered the destruction of the city. She took some stones in her apron to build her castle in Lusignan but one of her straps tore and some stones fell down and made the dolmen de la Pierre Levée of La Jarne.
