Description
Trench of the Austrian team in 2009.
In this picture you can see the rampart three at the east side of mont lassois, in front of the seine river. Picture is taken from the south side from the trench of the ditch.
This rampart is a part of the complex of four. Their function is yet unknown. Most probably they guarded the access to the river seine.
One of the biggest doubts about that: The Seine River is quite small and only accessible by small boats. The Rampart is TODAY about 5 meters high and hast a ditch on BOTH sides, one of them is at leas as deep as 7 meters. This is huge, as can be seen in my other pictures. So our team still can't explain the purpose of this monstrous wall.
Our dig starts at 26th of June, visitors are always welcome!
