Description
Not really a stone, but certainly an "earth mysteries" place; this enormous chasm, formed along a geological fault - and is an inspiring place to visit!

I have just seen a programme on TV (Sept 2003)which had this chasm as a feature I would really like to go and visit it. I am an artist and would find it good to Paint. Can you help me find this one please. [email protected] www.ann davies-art4all.co.uk

Hi Ann, I tried to find it and failed miserably! I'm going to try again next year. Lud's Church is in the Back Forest near the hill called Gradbach, but I have been told that the best way is to park at Danebridge and walk north-eastwards along the right hand bank of the River Don. You come to a large boulder and then take a steep path up the side of the valley. The whole area is heavily wooded and I just got lost - frequently! Take a good map and ask the locals.

Tim, the photographer will know, but as you say it may not be easy to describe. Send him a private message.
