A view looking up the steep steps of the main pyramid, El Castillo. The steps are about 6 inches deep, so your heels overhang as you climb up them, making it feel very precarious. I don't know whether the Mayan people had much smaller feet than us, or whether it was supposed to give an added sense of danger when you were marched up there to be sacrificed!
