Description
The Bridestones - September 2007

Today it is hard to imagine the original splendour of this structure, but, nonetheless, the size and strength of the stones still make a powerful statement. The surrounding folliage encloses the site and somewhat reduces the impact and grandeur of, what in reality, is one of the major sites of its type in the country. The decaying Ministry of Works sign from the 1950's makes an unambiguous testimony to the lack of concern that has been paid to this monument. It is a disgrace that such a wonderful place has, in the past, been treated in such an uncaring and cavalier way. Sadly this neglect still continues today.
