The remains of the cross shaft, with steps dating to around 1050, attributed to the instruction of Lady Godiva. This is on the south side of the church. The relatively more recent cross base and even later cross at the western end of the churchyard were originally on top of Godiva's Cross, and their maintenance yielded the discovery of the earlier cross base and partial shaft beneath.
