Description
Carreg Waen Llech Standing Stone: (Powys SO 164 175)
High on Llangynidir mountain, Carreg Waen Llech is an attractive standing stone sited in an area commanding impressive views of the Black Mountains. The stone is over six feet in height and has attractive and unusual pitting on its east and west faces.

Well worth a look. If you walk towards the west you can find the outcrop where the menhir was originally quarried. I think this rock was planted on the source of one of the tributaries of afon onnau. Good place to visit in mid- winter when the sun reflects off the ice that's formed on the pool at the base of the stone.
One of the best settings you will ever see for a standing stone, especially when you stand behind the stone and look towards Crug Hywel and Pen y Fal.
One place I always visit when I need to satisfy my hiraeth !
Clyde in Dorset.
