Description
This is the hillfort of Merlin by the A498 to Beddgelert. Here, the boy Myrddin (Merlin) told Vortigern why his fortress always collapsed. In a pool below the hill, a red dragon and a white one fought and tumbled Vortigern's new tower. Merlin explained that the white dragon was that of the Saxons and it would triumph. There would then come a champion (Arthur) to lead the Red Dragon of Wales to victory. Weird thing is that there is a pool and the foundations of a square tower.
