Description
Very basic sketch map (not to scale). Showing those boundary stones which run to the east of Sail Howe. Grid references are from my gps unless otherwise stated.
Stone 1 at NZ 74462 12229 – Not found 2023 / 2024, have now looked 3 times for this stone, I believe it has gone. Map reference is from digital historical OS mapping.
Stone 2 at NZ 74529 12096
Stone 3 at NZ 74599 11924
Stone 4 at NZ 74678 11742
Stone 5 at NZ 74812 11566
Stone 6 at NZ 74910 11422 - Missing in 2023 and may have been for some time, map reference is from digital historical OS mapping
Stone ‘A’ is the NAN STONE at NZ 74984 11279
Stone ‘B’ is GOOD GOOSE THORNE at NZ 74970 11089
Boundary Line at this point – In times past it marked the boundary between the township of Scaling Dam in the ancient parish of Easington to the west and the township of Roxby in the ancient parish of Hinderwell to the east. Today (2024) they mark the boundaries of Loftus civil parish and Redcar & Cleveland unitary authority to the west with Roxby civil parish and Scarborough district unitary authority being to the east.
