Solar and star alignments at the Marietta, Ohio earthworks on the Winter Solstice around 100 BC. This was the time when the Path of Souls ritual was done. The rise and setting of the Sun on the horizon was incorporated into the sightlines as well as the setting of Cygnus and the rise and setting of Orion's Nebula.
