The hill to be seen directly above the barrow on the horizon here is Masbury Hill with its iron age hillfort on top. Way in the distance can be seen Cley Hill.

Its surprising how the hills stand out in the Somerset landscape and beyond, from Kelston Hill and its surrounding area you can see Pen Hill (30 kms) and Cley Hill (about 25) framed beautifully between two fingers of Wiltshire downs. Bronze age people would always have been aware of the settlements that dotted the landscape by the smoke from the fires - it would have linked the Mendips with the settlements on Salisbury Plain.
