Description
St. Anne was well known in the Middle Ages as a patroness of wells & springs. Cottagers probably lived here as early as the 13th century, near the site of an even older monk's hermitage. The purity of the water attracted 18th century visitors and the pump room and baths were built between 1815-1819. By the 1850's, the heyday of Malvern's spa, this became the most popular of the hill-springs for the spa's visitors. During the summer months, a German band regularly played here.
