Lothal, 85 Km S'W' from Ahmedabad the capital of Gujarat state, India

This is an important settlement of the Harrapan civilization (Hindus Vally) discovered in november 1954 and excavated by the ASI (Archeological Survey of India)
Dated to 2400 to 1900 BCE, the well planned town flourishing as a sea-port.
Due to tectonic changes the sea retreated and caused the settlement to decline.

Lothal, 85 Km S'W' from Ahmedabad the capital of Gujarat state, India This is an important settlement of the Harrapan civilization (Hindus Vally) discovered in november 1954 and excavated by the ASI (Archeological Survey of India) Dated to 2400 to 1900 BCE, the well planned town flourishing as a sea-port. Due to tectonic changes the sea retreated and caused the settlement to decline. The dock of Lothal was reconstructed and filled with water.
