I know what you mean cazzyjane, I felt the same doing this one: https://www.megalithic.co.uk/modules.php?op=modload&name=a312&file=index&do=showpic&pid=7594
but it is one of the best ways to understand how gigantic these monoliths are! Mine was 16yrs ago now, where did all those years go?!! Nice of you.

Lovely of you too Angie! I didn't appreciate quite how tall that stone was until I saw your photo! :)

Is it known to be the tallest in the world
- or is there doubt ?

There is of course the Grand Menhir Brisé at Locmariaquer (20+ metres), but that is fallen and broken, so wouldn't count as tallest. Strangely Googling comes up with the Menhir de Champ-Dolent (stated as 9.3 to 9.5 metres). Kerloas is stated as 9.5m where I can find a height, So its possible that with some creative measurement, and depressions in the ground, this could be second tallest, but it's number one to most people.

Indeed the debate regarding Kerloas vs. Champ-Dolent surprised me too. Books tend to say Kerloas is the largest as far as i remember, but probably it is hard to decide when the size is so similar.

Other larger ones are:
Kergadiou (the standing one), 8,7-8,8m
Glomel, ~8,5m
Men Marz, 8,2-8,5m
Menoignon, 7,8m
Louargat, 7,5m(-8,4m)

@catrinm: if we apply the definition 'Menhir' = 'standing stone set up in neolithic age' then Kerloas or Champ-Dolent are the tallest in the world (in regards of their clear height).
