Description
The chancel arch, described by Poinds in his Gazetteer of Anglo Saxon and Viking Sites: Northumberland and County Durham page 181. It is particularly interesting as part of the original A-S can still be seen from both the nave and the chancel, and apparently this is centred on the original Anglo Saxon Nave. Above this arch is what is now a window, but measures 60ins high by 24ins wide and is thought to have originally been a door into an upper storey room.
