Description
This slab is recorded on page 23 of Ryder's Archaeological Assessment, and was not included in his original 2002 Archaeologia Aeliana. This cross slab is high above our heads, re-used as a lintel in a blocked doorway on the north side of the lower stage of the tower. Ryder correctly says it needs a ladder to examine it properly. With the bright spot light right next to the slab, we were unable to pick out anything other than part of a very thin cross shaft/sword blade. Submitted for anyone else who may be looking for this slab.
