Displayed in the shelf/niche in the passage between the vestry and the 'chapter house/bakehouse', the lighter piece of stone on the lower left hand side of the photo is recorded as item (a) by Guy Points, “Gazetteer of Anglo Saxon and Viking Sites: County Durham and Northumberland”, page 306. He describes it as:

Description
Displayed in the shelf/niche in the passage between the vestry and the 'chapter house/bakehouse', the lighter piece of stone on the lower left hand side of the photo is recorded as item (a) by Guy Points, “Gazetteer of Anglo Saxon and Viking Sites: County Durham and Northumberland”, page 306. He describes it as: "standing vertically between 1ins / 2cms and 1.25ins / 3cms to the right of the left hand edge of the niche and 32.5ins / 82cms up from the bottom of the niche. It measures 7.5ins / 19cms H with a 4ins / 10cms diameter. It is not decorated".
