The Corpus of Anglo Saxon Stone Sculpture records a total of thirty five baluster shafts found at St Peter's, 20 of which are displayed in the show case at the east end of the north aisle in the church. Dating from the last quarter of the seventh century, many still retain the holes at their top and bottom to enable them to be worked on a lathe.
